USA Mitchell College of Business Receives Extension of Accreditation
Lauded for Excellent Facilities, Community Involvement

Citing both excellent facilities and an involved advisory board, the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business has extended accreditation to the University of South Alabama Mitchell College of Business through 2013.

AACSB International is a not-for-profit corporation of educational institutions, corporations and other organizations devoted to the promotion and improvement of higher education in business administration and management.

Organized in 1916, AACSB International is the premier accrediting agency for bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degree programs in business administration and accounting.

In a letter to USA Mitchell College of Business Dean Carl Moore, the Association’s Board Chair Judy Olian mentioned the facilities at the college, including the new Joseph and Rebecca Mitchell Learning Resource Center. She also noted “an exceptionally involved and committed Advisory Board which has taken the lead in external fund-raising for a number of special projects.”

The MCOB advisory board was heavily involved in raising money for improved facilities, including the construction of the Joseph and Rebecca Learning Resource Center.

Moore said, “We are very pleased to receive such a positive accreditation report from AACSB. The successful completion of the maintenance of accreditation process is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of the faculty and staff of the Mitchell College of Business and the Business Executive Council chaired by Mr. Alan Alexander, and the continuing strong support of the University administration.

“Five years ago, the college adopted a strategic plan focused on building a regionally and nationally recognized business program. We have focused on increasing scholarships to attract more quality students, recruiting experienced, high-quality faculty, continuous improvement of the curriculum, and developing state-of-the-art instructional facilities. We have made great progress in all of these areas and that is validated by our very positive accreditation report.”
