With extensive training in technology from her 20 years in the U.S. Air Force, Angela Rand has joined the University of South Alabama Baldwin County Campus as the Librarian and Head of Information Services.

Rand, a full-time faculty member, will provide all library services to the USA Baldwin County Campus’ students, faculty and staff, and is coordinator of technology.

“As the Librarian and Head of Information Services for the USA Baldwin County Campus, as well as a member of the library faculty for the main campus, we were fortunate to find someone of Angela’s caliber to fulfill both roles. As the coordinator of technology for the branch campus, Angela brings a wealth of technological experience from her background both in the military and in library settings,” said USA Baldwin County Campus Associate Director Dr. Cynthia Wilson.

Rand retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1996 as an aircraft electrician, where for six years she worked on Air Force One.

She completed her bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Athens State University in 1997, and in 2006 earned her master's degree in Library Information Science from the University of Southern Mississippi. She was the Information Technology/Systems Librarian at the Orange Beach Public Library where she worked for nine years, with previous positions at the Fairhope Library and Athens State University Library.

“Angela is a great addition to the Baldwin County Campus, and with her passion and enthusiasm we know she will implement innovative ideas for the campus. Her expertise will be greatly utilized by the faculty, staff and students for their technology and library needs,” said USA Baldwin County Campus Director Dr. Phillip Norris.

“Librarians are the facilitators of information flow. I am dedicated to coordinating the flow of information throughout the USA Baldwin County Campus and Fairhope Community,” said Rand.

Angela has been married for over 25 years to her husband Michael, and they have three children, Jonathan, Alyssia and Noah.
