The University of South Alabama Office of Multicultural Student Affairs and Jaguar Productions present MADDRAMA Theater Company, Inc., in “Take Me Back: A Theatrical Journey of Unsettling Memories” on Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center Ballroom. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.
“Take Me Back” is a musical tribute to those who suffered and died for the rights of humanity. A special tribute will be paid to slain Civil Rights workers Emmett Till, Medger Evers, Andrew Goodman, Michael Schwerner, and James Chaney. Also to be remembered are the four young girls killed in Birmingham’s 16th Street Baptist Church bombing. They are Addie Mae Collins, Carole Robertson, Cynthia Wesley, and Denise McNair. Through theatre, song and dance, this play is designed to promote humanity of all people regardless of race.
MADDRAMA Theatre Company, Inc. was founded by Mark. G. Henderson, professor at Jackson State University. This program has grown into a community performance troupe with both students and non-students participating. For more information call (251) 460-6895.
