The internationally renowned American Brass Quintet will appear at the University of South Alabama’s 2010 Brass Chamber Music Honors Festival.
Members of the American Brass Quintet will perform a special concert on Sunday, March 28 at 3 p.m. in the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center Recital Hall. General admission tickets for this concert will be $15, and tickets for University faculty, staff, students and senior citizens will be $10. This is a special USA Musical Arts Series event, which is open to the public.
The American Brass Quintet will provide coaching and master classes to student participants. Equally committed to the promotion of brass chamber music through education, the American Brass Quintet has been in residence at The Juilliard School since 1987 and at the Aspen Music Festival since 1970. Since 2001, the American Brass Quintet has offered its expertise in chamber music performance and training with a program of mini-residences as part of its regular touring season.
The American Brass Quintet is celebrating 50 years of performing during the 2009-2010 season, and the group has also been hailed as the “high priest of brass” by Newsweek Magazine and “positively breathtaking” by the New York Times. Since its founding, American Brass Quintet’s rich history includes performances abroad and in the United States.
