University students, faculty and staff will join other participants at the 2011 Higher Education Day in Montgomery on Thursday, April 7.
During the 11 a.m. rally on the State House steps, attendees will remind legislators of the important relationship of higher education to the state’s economic future as the legislature prepares the 2011-2012 state budget. Following the rally, a free luncheon for participants will be held on the Capitol grounds.

The Center for Academic Service-Learning and Civic Engagement is asking faculty members to use this trip to Montgomery as a service-learning project for their classes. To discuss service-learning opportunities or to reserve bus seats, contact Karen Peterson, co-director of the Center for Academic Service-Learning and Civic Engagement at (251) 460-6148, or e-mail email@example.com. The center will sign up students in the Student Center Lobby. Bus seats for students can also be reserved in Student Center Room 139.

All buses will depart from University Commons at 8 a.m. and return at 5 p.m.
