USA Elects New Student Government Association Officers

The University of South Alabama has announced the results of the Student Government Association officer elections for the 2012-2013 academic year.

Parker Chastain   Parker Chastain, 20, of Dothan, Ala., will serve as president. He is a junior, majoring in biomedical sciences in the College of Allied Health Professions, who served as SGA senator. Chastain also is a national member of Alpha Epsilon Delta, a member of the Society of Leadership and Success, and a member of the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society. He’s also a fundraising coordinator for the USA Honors Program, treasurer for the USA Show Choir and Gumbo Chili Showdown campus coordinator. He is the son of Dr. Steve and Sheila Chastain.
Coleman Wolf   Coleman Wolf, 22, of Scottsboro, Ala., will serve as vice president. He is a senior majoring in nursing in the College of Nursing. He has served as SGA Chief Justice and SGA senator. He is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity and a member of the Student Nursing Association. He also received a leadership award from Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He’s the son of Sonny and Dee Wolf.
William Pearson   William Pearson, 21, of Daphne, Ala., will serve as treasurer. He is a junior majoring in business finance in the Mitchell College of Business.  He also served as SGA Senator. Pearson is a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity. He has been recognized with the President’s Award, top new member and top member awards from Tau Kappa Epsilon. He’s the son of Donald and Karen Pearson.

The purpose of the SGA is to protect and advance student interests as well as to promote the welfare of the student body. The organization operates as a constitutional democracy and is comprised of executive, judicial, and legislative branches.

Since its founding in 1963, USA has been one of Alabama’s fastest growing universities, currently enrolling more than 15,000 students in a wide-range of academic programs in Allied Health Professions, Arts and Sciences, Business, Computer and Information Sciences, Engineering, Medicine, Nursing and Pharmacy. USA has awarded 70,000 degrees.
