The University of South Alabama’s Faculty Senate is asking all alumni, students, faculty, staff and administrators to nominate current or former faculty members for the honor of being selected as one of 50 Outstanding Faculty in celebration of the University’s 50th anniversary, which begins in September.
The 50 Outstanding Faculty will be honored at the 50th anniversary celebration on May 3, 2013.
A simple online form will be available on the University’s Web site for the nominating process. A selection committee, comprised of members of the Faculty Senate Planning and Development Committee and Executive Committee, along with student and alumni representatives will review the nominations for eligibility and oversee the final selection process. Members of the overseeing committees will be ineligible for selection.
The selection committee will strive to balance awards across time periods and colleges/units.
Criteria for selection to the 50 Outstanding Faculty Members will include number of nominations; the strength of each nomination; diversity of nomination sources, such as students, alumni, faculty and administration; and faculty accomplishments in the areas of teaching, research, and/or service.
Each selected faculty member will be given special recognition in the Midweek Memo during the spring of 2013 leading up to the 50th anniversary celebration event.
For guidelines and to nominate a faculty member online, go to the USA Web site at www.southalabama.edu/ or the Faculty Senate Web site at www.southalabama.edu/fsenate.
