to Commemorate USA’s 50th Anniversary

Goodwill Easter Seals Christmas Ornament

Goodwill Easter Seals of the Gulf Coast is partnering with the University of South Alabama to commemorate the University’s 50th Anniversary with the 2012 Goodwill Easter Seals “Christmas on the Coast” ornament, the 18th in the organization’s annual series.

The limited edition ornament will depict USA’s newest landmark, Moulton Tower and Alumni Plaza. The structure has become an icon of the University’s campus since it was dedicated in 2010. “B” Sumrall, known for her paintings featuring landmarks in Mobile and Baldwin counties, designed the ornament’s artwork.

Since 1994, Goodwill Easter Seals has sold Christmas ornaments depicting the history and landmarks of Mobile and the Gulf Coast as one of its annual fund-raising projects.

Ten thousand of the ornaments will go on sale Oct. 1 at a cost of $12 each.

“As the University of South Alabama celebrates its 50th Anniversary, the USA family is pleased that Goodwill Easter Seals of the Gulf Coast has selected Moulton Tower and Alumni Plaza for its annual limited edition Christmas ornament, which will provide a perpetual reminder of how the University has forever enhanced the quality of life for our community, state and world,” said USA President Gordon Moulton.

Frank Harkins, president and chief executive officer of Goodwill Easter Seals of the Gulf Coast, said the organization “is proud to partner with the University of South Alabama to celebrate the University’s 50th Anniversary through the 2012 Christmas on the Coast ornament, Moulton Tower.

“The tower stands as a symbol of a strong history and positive outlook for the future. Goodwill Easter Seals and the University of South Alabama share a common goal of creating solutions that change people’s lives,” Harkins added.

Prior Goodwill Easter Seals ornaments have depicted such iconic local images as Mobile’s Mardi Gras celebration, the Pensacola Lighthouse and the Cannon at the Loop, among others.
