Dr. Michael Daley, professor of Social Work at the University of South Alabama, has been appointed to a three-year term on the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners by Gov. Robert Bentley.  The Board is the regulatory agency that licenses social workers and regulates the practice of social work within the state.

The Board protects the public from unethical, incompetent or unlawful social work practice, enforces licensing standards and takes disciplinary action against practitioners who violate licensing laws or rules.  Daley will be representing the Mobile region on the board, which is composed of seven licensed social work practitioners who represent the congressional districts of Alabama.

Daley is the former director of USA's BSW program in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology and Social Work who returned to the faculty in January 2012. Prior to coming to USA he served as director of the School of Social Work at Stephen F. Austin State University.
