The public is invited to enjoy an exciting celebration of the world’s favorite seasonal music during a holiday concert by the University of South Alabama’s department of music on Thursday, Dec. 6, at 6:30 p.m., in the Mitchell Center. The free community concert is among a host of activities planned to commemorate the University’s 50th Anniversary year, which began this fall and will end in May 2013.

Performances will feature faculty and student soloists and ensembles including the USA Concert Choir, USA Chorale, Wind Ensemble, USA Opera Theatre, Jaguar Marching Band, and a variety of vocal, woodwind, brass, string and percussion ensembles.

The holiday spectacular will include performances from more than 20 faculty members from the University’s department of music, including musical pieces by faculty vocalists Dr. Thomas Rowell, Joyce Sylvester and Linda Zoghby; and pianists Drs. Jerry Alan Bush and Robert Holm.

More than 360 USA students will participate in the seasonal concert, including a performance by the 200-member Jaguar Marching Band.

Musical numbers will range from classic inspirational pieces to traditional holiday tunes. Complimentary holiday refreshments will be served.

Handicapped parking will be available in the Mitchell Center lot. JagTran will be providing round-trip transportation from these parking lots to the Mitchell Center before and after the Holiday Concert.
