University of South Alabama writer-in-residence Frye Gaillard and Alabama singer-songwriter Kathryn Scheldt recently released their latest work, a book and CD combination titled “The Quilt”.

With cover art that depicts a southern camellia created by Alabama-born artist Nall, the book will feature essays by Gaillard, which celebrates Alabama songwriter legends such as Hank Williams, W.C. Handy, and Emmylou Harris. Song lyrics by both Scheldt and Gaillard will be included as well.

The accompanying CD, produced by Alabama native and hall of fame guitarist Rick Hirsch, portrays Scheldt’s performance on nine of her original songs, mostly co-written with Gaillard or Hirsch.

“The Quilt” will be available on-line and in stores. A Mobile area release event will be announced soon. For more information visit or
