The Department
of Radiology at the University of South Alabama Medical Center
(USAMC) in Mobile, Alabama, is an academically
based program serving the clinical, teaching and research
arms of radiology. We serve four hospitals,
two out-patient centers and two radiation therapy facilities.
Our total in-patient beds number over 700 and the number of
radiological procedures performed each year is nearly 160,000.
Also, the department serves the radiological needs of the
College of Medicine
which rotates medical students through the department on an
elective basis.
Our department also provides service to several outside hospitals
by teleradiology including: Evergreen Medical Center, Evergreen,
AL; Florala Memorial Hospital, Florala, AL; Jackson Hospital,
Jackson, AL; VA Hospital, Biloxi, MS; VA Hospital, Alexandria,
LA and Eglin Air Force Base, Pensacola, FL. Our faculty and
staff encompass a wide variety of skills with training from
premier institutions across the United States. Numerous faculty
members have served or are currently serving at the highest
level in national organizations, producing many original journal
publications, reviews and texts. The Radiology Department
of the University of South Alabama Medical Center prides on
cutting edge therapies in all modalities of diagnostic and
