Schedule Adjustment Policies
It is your responsibility to check your
registration for accuracy, to contact the Office of the Registrar for
assistance with registration if you need help, and to make any necessary
changes within the appropriate deadlines.
Cancellation Policy
If you register for courses and then decide not to
attend USA, you must cancel your registration by dropping all your courses
before your time ticket expires at 5:59 p.m. on the last day of Late
Registration & Drop/Add. Otherwise, you may be held responsible
for tuition and fees and also for grades received for your registered
courses. See the University
Calendar for Late Registration & Drop/Add days each semester.
Non-attendance of a registered course does not constitute a formal withdrawal
from that course, nor does it entitle you to a refund.
New students who cancel their registration will have
to contact the Office
of Admissions and update their application for admission in order
to participate in registration for a future semester.
Readmitted students who cancel their registration will
have to contact the Office of the Registrar
and submit a new readmission application in order to participate in
registration for a future semester.
If you have questions about the cancellation
policy, call the Office of the Registrar.
Adding Courses
- You can add courses to your schedule until your
time ticket expires at 5:59 p.m. on the last day of Late Registration
& Drop/Add. See the University
Calendar for Late Registration & Drop/Add days each semester.
- If you have a hold on your student account that
prevents you from registering, you must clear the hold through the
University office that issued it before you can add a course.
- It is your responsibility to make sure that your
schedule is accurate before the end of Late Registration & Drop/Add.
If you are having difficulty adding a course, contact the Office of
the Registrar for assistance before the end of Late Registration &
Drop/Add.
- Courses added to your registration after the end
of Late Registration & Drop/Add might not be eligible for financial
aid funding. Contact the Office
of Financial Aid if you have questions about your financial aid.
- If the course add constitutes a late registration,
you will be assessed appropriate late fees.
Dropping Courses
- During Registration, and Late Registration &
Drop/Add, you may drop courses or drop all of your courses (cancel
your registration). Courses dropped during these registration periods
will not remain on your permanent academic record. Late Registration
and Drop/Add ends at 5:59 p.m. on the third day of the semester. Refer
to the University
Calendar for exact dates each semester. Courses dropped after
this time will remain on your academic records as withdrawn courses.
- During the Drop Period, you may drop courses from
your schedule or may drop all courses to completely withdraw from
the semester. Courses dropped during the Drop Period will remain on
your permanent academic record as withdrawn courses. The last day
to drop ends at 4:59 p.m. Refer to the University
Calendar for exact dates each semester. You cannot drop courses
after the drop deadline.
- If you have a hold on your student account that
prevents you from dropping a course, you must go to the Office of
the Registrar during office hours to drop it. The Registrar cannot
drop courses for you after the deadline to drop has expired.
Complete Withdrawals
At the University of South Alabama, “Complete
Withdrawal” means to drop all of your courses for the semester
with the dropped courses remaining on your academic record as withdrawn
courses. Unless you are a transient student or a candidate for graduation,
you should still get a time
ticket to register for the next semester.
- During Registration, and Late Registration &
Drop/Add, you may drop all of your courses to cancel your registration.
This does not constitute a complete withdrawal from the semester because
these dropped courses will not remain on your academic record (see
Cancellation Policy).
- During the Drop Period, you may drop all of your
courses to completely withdraw for the semester. These dropped courses
will remain on your academic record as withdrawn courses. You must
complete all course drops before your time ticket expires on the last
day to drop. Refer to the University
Calendar for exact dates each semester.
