The traditional Thursday Night Races at the Mobile Yacht Club shall give all members and interested people the opportunity to take part in a relaxed after-work sail regatta (People who have no membership are not insured, so it depends on the invitation of the skipper whether you can take part or not). It takes mostly place from 6 p.m. to 9.pm. on every thursday afternoon, from April to end of October, depending on weather and wind conditions. 

This regatta is for the bigger boats of Mobile Yacht Club. It's a complete different feeling to glide smoothly through the Mobile Bay on a 38-feet boat than on the small and shaky training boats of the USA Sailing Club. Everybody is invited to learn common sailing rules and hand grips of such a big boat. Sometimes the Captain will invite you to steer the boat, which is a great experience! But if you rather prefer to mellow,  just keep your seat on the port or starboard, grab a cool drink and just enjoy the wonderful sunset in the Mobile Bay!

Meeting point is after consultation with the skipper the Mobile Yacht Club at the Psyche, or, in case that another boat is used, at the very end of the dock, where the boat can stop by to step on it.

After the regatta is a meeting in the Club House, just across the Dauphin Island Pkwy, faced to the Mobile Bay. There you can grab some good sea-food. The club has a full service restaurant, dining and lounge facility with a seating capacity of 100. The bar and galley are open Thursday through Sunday, serving full menu dinners and luncheons with a fine wine selection, as well as sandwiches, snacks and other beverages.
