Dear Alabama Reading Initiative Participant: Welcome to the University of South Alabama's ARI web site! For the past several months, we have been working quietly as your partner to help deliver the Alabama Reading Initiative (ARI) to you and to the children you teach. This partnership has involved local school superintendents, the State Department of Education, area business sponsors, and the University of South Alabama's College of Education and the South Alabama Research and Inservice Center. But you have already done most of the work. You have gone through the application process, had a site visit, secured a higher education partner, and raised local funds. You already committed to making ARI a success in your school. To help you, we have developed this web site. We hope that you'll find this site helpful as we move toward our kickoff date. At this site you'll find more information about ARI, information for you and for the parents of the children you teach. We have posted the training schedule, maps to the training site, and other information which I hope will serve you. Explore the site and let us know what you think! No worthwhile project is ever easy. ARI is no exception. For 10 days this summer you'll be immersed in a program which will make a real difference in the lives of your students.
