The Alabama Science in Motion Program [ASIM] has been a vital part of the University of South Alabama’s Department of Chemistry since 1995. The USA site serves high schools in Mobile, Baldwin, Washington, Clarke, and Monroe Counties and the Thomasville City School System – currently twenty-eight teachers in twenty-four different schools.
In a nutshell, ASIM's goals are to:

train teachers to use state-of-the-art scientific equipment
give teachers and their students opportunities to use that equipment in the classroom
get students excited about actually “doing science” – not just reading about it and answering questions or working problems
serve as a connection between the host university and the high school classroom
