Day 2 - May 12th

Our target area of the Texas Panhandle panned out well yesterday as we chased some high-based storms that produced nickel to quarter size hail and some significant wind gusts. We drove through portions of Palo Duro Canyon yesterday while waiting for storms to initiate and then intercepted storms near Turkey, TX. We then continued to intercept a couple of storms on our way to Childress, TX for dinner at Sonic and a good night's rest at a Super 8 that included waffles in the shape of Texas. Today we will target Oklahoma to intercept storms, although the main threat will be hail and damaging winds, with a low tornado threat.

Keep looking up and if you see Rob Marciano(CNN) tell him i love his hair and get an autograph for me, he was in the TX panhandle "chasing" yesterday.
