I was born and raised here in the Port City.  When I graduated from high school I wasn’t ready to leave home, but I wanted to be able to have what I considered the “full college experience.”  That is why I chose South Alabama. I wanted to be able to meet new people and have a sense of freedom even though I was going to college in my hometown.  Living on campus helped create this experience, but I had to take the initiative to get involved and step outside of my comfort zone.  During my four year tenure at South Alabama, I was the SGA Attorney General, an officer in my sorority, and an active member in the Catholic Student Association.   These experiences led me to pursue my Masters degree in Higher Education and continue to work with college students.

Place on campus
The bell tower.  It’s symbolic of how far we have come as a university and is a great gathering place for our student body. 

USA Tradition
JagFest Organization Fair and Get On Board Day.  I love the possibilities of these events!  There is an organization for every interest from the Sailing Team to the Karate Club. 

Thing about USA
It’s all about creating your own experience!  I’m firmly convinced anyone can be happy at USA.  If you want the Greek experience, USA offers it.  If you want to be surrounded by individuals who will help you succeed inside and outside of the classroom so you can get into Medical school or graduate school, you’ll find it.  If you are interested in performance or the theater guild, we’ve got it. It’s all about finding the experience YOU want.  It may not be handed to you; you may have to step outside of your comfort zone to find that experience, but it’s here waiting for you to discover it.  

Place to Eat in Mobile
I love the hole- in-the-wall restaurants. For a burger, Callaghan’s is my pick, but for wings (and fried pickles) it’s Butch Cassidy’s.  Carpe Diem is great spot for a cup of coffee.

Music
I listen to a little bit of everything; my Pandora stations include the Avett Brothers, Hootie and the Blowfish, and the Chieftains.

Book
I am partial to books on tape.  I especially enjoy reading biographies, Witness to Hope being one of my favorites.
