Dyeatra
Nelson
Dyeatra
Nelson is a senior at the University of South Alabama and
is currently enrolled in the No Child Left Behind program.
Dyeatra spends her weekdays in a wonderful classroom at
Maryvale Elementary with her cooperating teacher, Mrs. Mary
Johnson. Dyeatra credits her classmates for giving her the
support she needs to get through this program. "Without
each one of them, this would be a tough program. When we
need something, someone in our class is there for support,"
she says.
Dyeatra is engaged to be married to a a professional golfer.
With this in mind, she plans to teach for a couple of years
and then go on "tour" with her new husband.

Benjamin
Ponder
Benjamin
Ponder is a junior at the University of South Alabama. He
is working on a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
He is currently participating in the NCLB partnership as
a student intern at Maryvale Elementary. Benjamin is enjoying
the opportunity to participate in the NCLB program and cannot
wait to have a classroom of his own. He currently lives
in Grand Bay with his wife and three year old son. When
he is not playing with his son, Benjamin enjoys reading,
juggling, and playing the guitar.

Ray
Kate
Ray is a senior at the University of South Alabama. She
is pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
Kate is participating in the No Child Left Behind program
as a student intern at Maryvale Elementary School. She works
in a 4th grade classroom under the mentorship of Mrs. Kimberly
Anez. Kate is also a member of Kappa Delta Sorority and
is active in the community and on campus. After graduating
in December 2003, Kate plans to teach in the Mobile County
Public School System.

Lucy
Stubbs
Lucy
Stubbs is a junior at the University of South Alabama, where
she is working on a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
She is currently participating in the No Child Left Behind
program. She is working in a third grade classroom at Maryvale
Elementary School with Elizabeth Gillespie as her mentor
teacher. After graduating in December of 2003, she plans
to teach in the Mobile County Public School System and to
later get her Master's degree in Elementary Education.
