All About Me

My name is Cindy Malone. I am the mother of three children ranging in ages from 18 to 23. As you can see, I am not the traditional college student. My older daughter and I have had the privilege of taking several college courses together; an experience I highly recommend.

I have several hobbies, which include reading, sewing, cross-stitching, various crafts and volunteer work. I love animals almost as much as I love children. Last year, I rescued, raised and later released a baby deer. I have a Shih Tzu, 2 rescued kittens, and my daughter’s ferret. The latest member of my family is a Fox and Rat Terrier mix, which I adopted last year from the shelter.

I graduated from Citronelle High School in 1976.While attending high school I served as class officer, student council representative, cheerleader captain, member of the flag corp., C.L.O.C officer, yearbook editor and Oil Bowl Queen. I was also a member of Who’s Who Among American High School Students and graduated in the top ten percent of my graduating class.

I am currently a senior at the University of South Alabama, where I have maintained a 3.75 G.P.A. I am a member of the Orizon Chapter of Delta Kappa Pi Honor Society. I have been nominated to Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities, Golden Key Honor Society, Alpha Theta Chi, and Alpha Chi Honor Societies.

Currently, I am a student Intern at Forest Hill Elementary School in a kindergarten classroom. I have had the tremendous privilege of working with mentor teacher, Ms. Lynn Smith. The Internship was developed as part of the No Child Left Behind program. As an Intern in this program, it has been my responsibility to be in the kindergarten classroom each weekday, as well as attend classes in the afternoon at the university. Although it has been challenging at times, the experience has been priceless.
As Interns, we have had the opportunity to see first-hand exactly what it takes to run an effective classroom. When I entered this program, I thought I wanted to teach third-grade, but after spending time in a kindergarten classroom, that quickly changed. I have thoroughly enjoyed being one of the guiding influences on these young lives and their academic future.
