Assessments are vital to the planning and instruction of each student. In kindergarten, the assessments begin with identifying letters and sounds. According to what the student knows will determine your plan for instruction for that student. The student with whom I worked did not know letters or sounds at the beginning of the year. We have concentrated on these things for much of the first and second quarters. She has shown remarkable improvement from her first and final assessments.
