In accordance with that recommendation, ALACTE is implementing the following project goals statewide:
1. Deans Technology Task Force
Ensure that the ISTE Foundation Standards will be implemented through the formation
of a Deans Technology Task Force to focus specifically on the Application of
Technology in Instruction.
2. IT Integration in Teacher Education Curriculum
Ensure that instructors of methods (and other) courses integrate IT throughout
the teacher education curriculum.
3. Teacher Education Technology Plan
Develop a state-wide teacher education technology plan to ensure that all future
teachers are effective teachers of and consumers of IT.
4. Professional Development for Faculty Role Models
Ensure that faculty members serve effectively as models of professional teachers.
Introduce faculty workload realignment to allow faculty members to be effectively
involved in professional development activities designed to fulfill the statewide
teacher education technology plan.
5. Web Sites
Establish web sites to disseminate all aspects of this project. Dissemination
will include teacher education course syllabi, sample lesson plans, interactive
instruction, classroom IT best-practices research, and linkages to National
Educational Technology Standards (NETS) partner organizations.
6. IT Application During Field Experiences
Ensure that teacher education majors, particularly Student Teachers, will have
more opportunities to apply IT during field experiences.
7. Program Teams
Establish four program teams (General Studies, Professional Studies, Teaching
Field, Clinical Experiences) to implement the project's goals and objectives.
Each of these teams will have specific responsibilities and will be staffed
by faculty members.
