Our 40th Celebration!

The USA Library has been a member of the Federal Depository Library Program since 1968.  Our mission is to serve the needs of the faculty, staff, and students of the University of South Alabama, as well as the citizens of the 1st Congressional District of Alabama.

Our collection contains publications produced by U.S. federal government agencies and Alabama state government agencies.  We are particularly strong in the areas of Census, Defense, Education, Health & Human Services, and Justice.  This wealth of information is available in a variety of formats: print, microformat, CD-ROM & DVD, and online.

Most of the federal publications and all of the Alabama publications can be located by using the SOUTHcat Catalog.  When most publications were distributed in print, we selected approximately 66% of those titles made available through the FDLP. For further information concerning collection development, please consult the Collection Development Website.

In our department, you will also find the unbound periodicals, the Law collection, the Documents workstation tower for using our CDs/DVDs, and our large map collection.  The Documents Reference collection is located in the Reference Dept.
