Rather than just surfing the Internet to collect information for this project and then sorting through a myriad of links and evaluating those for relevancy, this guide provides access to sources that have been proven reliable and on target for information needs.  If you don't find the specific type of information you are looking for to complete your project, please ask for assistance in locating additional sources.

Utilizing Multinational Business Portals:

Portals are excellent for one-stop shopping and are a great place to get started or to browse a wealth of available information for Multinational Business.  They are extremely comprehensive so information will need to be sorted through to find relevant sources.  Students may wish to save time by consulting other areas of this guide for more concise information relevant to their project.

Develop Search Strategy

Rather than choosing a broad topic, such as 'BP in Russia', narrow the topic by including more specifics ... "outcome analysis of the TNK-BP joint venture within the current oil crisis"

The database below, provides a way for researchers to narrow broad topics:

Business Index ASAP

  • Click on ‘Subject Guide’ to the left of the screen.
  • Enter the broad topic in the search box and click on the ‘Search’ button (example, British Petroleum).
  • From the results list, locate the specific topic.  You can either ‘View’ the complete list of articles on that topic OR narrow by subdivision.  Narrowing by subdivision is useful in locating articles that will relate to your specific need. 

Rather than just jumping in and starting to search for articles & books, it is worth your effort to think through a search strategy.
