Company SWOT Analysis

This guide lists sources which provide information to prepare a company's SWOT Analysis.

The guide focuses on suggested strategies and best places to begin research efforts. For information & assistance in using any of the sources, please contact library staff:

Reference Point A recent example of a SWOT analysis for the company you are researching may serve as an excellent reference point. After reviewing the example, an environmental scan will reveal updates that need to be made.
Internal Analysis Research the specific company's functional areas/value chain (marketing, human resources, operations, logistics, etc.) through business media to determine strengths and weaknesses.
External Analysis Research the industry or industries that the company fits into as well as consumer and environmental trends/forecasts to determine opportunities and threats.
Competitive Analysis Compare your company's performance with other companies in the industry especially in the area of financial performance and the company's ability to meet consumer trends/demand based on rankings/market share.
