| on order | the book has been ordered; we don't know when it will arrive |
| received | the book has been received; cataloging hasn't started working on it yet |
| in process | catalogers have worked on the book, but it is waiting for call number to be attached |
| no item data available | an electronic book or "on order" or no barcode attached yet |
| multiple item statuses | more than one copy of the book or a set with more than one volume. Open the record to see. |
| title has multiple holdings | item has two or more parts-- e.g. a book and a CD-ROM--and they are kept in different places in the library |
| not checked out | the book should be on the shelf |

book was returned recently; it may be back on shelf or at the circ desk waiting to be reshelved |
| charged, due (date) | book is checked out with date due indicated |
| renewed | book has been renewed and the date it is now due |
| on hold (date) | the book is being held at the circ desk for the patron who placed a "hold" on it |
| missing (date) | the book cannot be located on the shelf; staff are searching for it |
| lost (date) | the book was checked out and not returned; (after a specified time) a bill for cost plus processing was sent to the patron |
