Laidlaw Recital Hall,
Famous Piano Quartets Concert!! The Archduke Piano Trio (pianist and USA professor Robert Holm, violinist Enen Yu and cellist Guo-Sheng Huang) with guest violist and Mobile Symphony principal violist Brown will collaborate to perform Piano Quartets by Mozart and Brahms on Thursday, February 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Laidlaw Performing Arts Center. A pioneer in the field of standard chamber music, Mozart completed his first Piano Quartet in G minor in 1785. The work alternates between dramatic, lyrical and brilliant passages in its 3 movements. Perhaps the most famous of his three piano quartets, Brahms's G minor Piano Quartet, op. 25 was completed in 1861. A large scale work, the dramatic conclusion, Rondo alla Zingarese or "Gypsy Rondo" is one of the most exciting and difficult pieces in the repertoire. Tickets are sold at the door only. $8 for General Admission; $5 for USA Students, Faculty/Staff, and youths under 18 and all senior citizens (cash or check only)
For more information contact Keith Bohnet at (251) 460-7116, send email to kbohnet@usouthal.edu, or visit www.southalabama.edu/music.
