"Abstract Friends",
University of South Alabama Library,
Appreciation of art and the game of golf brought the two artists, currently featured in the third floor library gallery, together. The two met through the Mobile art scene and have collaborated to create, "Abstract Friends," an exhibit focused on the abstract paintings of Debby Sneed and Conroy Hudlow. The paintings are on display in the Mary Elizabeth and Charles Bernard Rodning Gallery of Art located on the third floor of the University of South Alabama Library. The show runs through Thursday February 28, 2013, and is free and open to the public during library hours.

Michael Eric Dyson Speaks on Dr. King at USA Event,

Dr. Michael Eric Dyson, professor of sociology at Georgetown University, MSNBC political analyst and best-selling author, will lecture at the University of South Alabama's African-American Studies commemorative event to celebrate the birthday Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dyson will lecture on "The Sweetness of Struggle." Jaguar Productions and the Mobile County Commission are co-sponsors, and this event is free and open to the public. The JagTran will pick up students near the USA Dining Hall and Epsilon Residence Hall at 6 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.

"Vessels 40: Surface and Color",
University of South Alabama Library,
A variety of glass techniques from low and high-fire vitreous enamels to sandblasted imagery can be seen in the USA Library's newest art exhibit, "Vessels 40: Surface and Color." The display is made up of works by USA Visual Art Department's Glass Program Coordinator, Rene Culler. The show features several of her pieces that explore the use of color and attention to surface in vessel making. The exhibit is on display in the glass cases in the Mary Elizabeth and Charles Bernard Rodning Gallery of Art located on the third floor of the library. The exhibit is free and open to the public during library hours.

The Secular Student Alliance at USA hosts, Ed Buckner; atheist, freethinker, secular humanist, and 30 year advocate of strict separation of church and state. He is the former president of American Atheists, a former executive director of Council for Secular Humanism, and an integral part of many flourishing secular communities across the US. Buckner will speak about his new book ôIn Freedom We Trust - the logic and history that supports why this is a free country, not a Christian nationö. A book signing and reception will follow in Library room.
