USA Gastroenterology is an academic division of the Department of Medicine whose mission is teaching, research, and patient care. The division is responsible for teaching gastrointestinal, nutritional, and hepatology physiology and pathophysiology to medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as to attending physicians for continuing education. Supervised consultation concerning digestive disorders is available throughout the Academic Health Center at USA Medical Center, Infirmary West , USA Children's and Women's Hospital, and their private practice located within the Digestive Health Center at Infirmary West.

The Digestive Health Center is a 6500 sq. ft. complex which offers basic and advanced endscopic services, gastrointestinal physiology, diagnostic testing and modern equipment for tests such as:

 
  • Solid state manometry for esophageal and anorectal motility
  • 24 hour ambulatory pH
  • Wireless pH monitoring
  • Wireless capsule endoscopy
  • Small bowel enteroscopy endoscopy
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic biliary procedures
  • Diagnostic breath testing for lactose and Helicobacter pylori
  • Endoscopic ultrasound
 
 

The facilities at Infirmary West support faculty and fellow clinical investigation.
