Residency Benefits

80-hour work week

The department of OB/GYN is committed to the enforcement of the 80 hour work week. In order to comply with the requirements of the ACGME, the residency has implemented several procedures.

A night float system is employed from Sunday evening through Thursday evening
(5PM to 7 AM). Other residents begin their day at 6AM and end at 5PM unless they are on night float.

For the other residents call is only on the weekends when residents typically do a Friday/Sunday shift or a Saturday shift.

  • Friday/Sunday consists of call Friday night (5PM to 6AM) AND Sunday (6AM to 5PM).
  • Saturday call is from 6AM until 6AM Sunday.

• All residents have a 24 hour period off each week.

• All residents have at least 1 full weekend off monthly.
