Didactic Curriculum
 

The OB/GYN residency at The University of South Alabama utilizes the Council on Resident Education in Obstetrics and Gynecology (CREOG) objectives as a model to ensure a comprehensive education in the specialty. This is done using a combination of clinical and surgical teaching, formal didactic sessions, surgical simulations, organized rounds, and impromptu talks. Some of the various methods are described below:

 

Typically the resident lectures are distributed throughout the month as follows:

  • Week 1: Gynecology and Gynecologic Oncology
  • Week 2: Obstetrics and Practice Management
  • Week 3: Urogynecology and Primary Care
  • Week 4: Reproductive Endocrinology and Pathology
  • Week 5: When this occurs these hours are used for a variety of different topics
