Dr. Jorge Herrera, professor of Internal Medicine at the University of South Alabama College of Medicine, will be honored by the Alabama chapter of the American Liver Foundation (ALF) at the 2003 Honoree Gala -- Salute to Excellence on June 27 in the Wynfrey Hotel.

Herrera, a nationally recognized liver expert, is being honored for his outstanding contributions to the mission of the American Liver Foundation.

"We are proud of Dr. Herrera, and we join the America Liver Foundation in congratulating him on his achievements," said Dr. Jack DiPalma, director of the USA Digestive Health Center. "Dr. Herrera is a dedicated physician committed to fighting liver disease through education, research and outstanding patient care."

As a physician, professor and member of the ALF Medical Advisory Board, Herrera is dedicated to this mission through his efforts to prevent, treat and cure hepatitis and other liver diseases through research, education and advocacy on behalf of those affected by or at risk for liver diseases.
