Chili Cook Off Raises Money for USA Burn Center
|
 |
The University of South Alabama Regional Burn and Wound Center was the recipient of a $1,000 donation from Hurricane Cover Oyster Bar and Grill in Ocean Springs, site of a March 21 chili cook off that pitted Mississippi fire departments against each other in friendly competition. |
Rebecca and David O'Keefe present a check to the staff of the USA Regional Burn and Wound Center, which included nurse manager Angela Duffy, Dr. Arnold Luterman and nurse practitioner Lesli Bullock. |
The cook off event, co-sponsored by Rex Distributing, drew teams from local businesses as well as firefighters from Biloxi, Ocean |
| Springs and Gautier. Event organizer David O’Keefe and wife, Rebecca, decided to donate the proceeds to USA because of the number of local burn victims treated there. |
The USA Regional Burn and Wound Center provides specialized care to burn and trauma patients in South Alabama, Northwest Florida, Southern Mississippi and Eastern Louisiana. Located at USA Medical Center in Mobile, a Level I Trauma Center, it is the only facility in the region able to provide burn care from injury to recovery.
