Dr. Robert A. Kreisberg will speak at this month’s USA Physician's Group Lunch ‘N Learn Lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2005 at the USA Knollwood Hospital Pavilion Conference Center. Kreisberg, a distinguished endocrinologist, medical educator and administrator, will share his insight and provide new information concerning Obesity and Metabolic Syndrome. Kreisberg recently stepped down as Dean of the USA College of Medicine and Vice President for Medical Affairs.
Metabolic syndrome is a group of abnormal findings related to the body's metabolism. These findings include excess body fat (particularly around the waist), high triglycerides and blood pressure, and low HDL cholesterol. Metabolic syndrome is closely linked to a specific metabolic problem called insulin resistance, in which the ability of insulin to control the amount of sugar in the blood is impaired. Your risk of developing metabolic syndrome is increased if you have a body mass index (BMI) greater than 25. BMI is a measure of your percent of body fat based on height and weight.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m., followed immediately by the lecture at noon.
The lecture is provided free of charge. Seating is limited and reservations are required.
