Dusty Layton receives IRB Professional Certification
|
| |
 |
Dusty Layton, manager of research compliance and assurance at the University of South Alabama, recently received certification as an Institutional Review Board (IRB) Professional by the Council for Certification of IRB Professionals. This certification is increasingly recognized as an important part of an effective human subjects protection program and denotes a level of knowledge and proficiency in a specialized field. |
|
| |
National certification demonstrates an understanding of a specific body of knowledge at a level sufficient to meet established standards. The certification process evaluates and validates individuals’ knowledge of ethical principles, historical events, regulatory requirements, and operational and functional issues relating to IRBs and human subjects protection programs. |
| |
Layton’s current responsibilities include managing compliance in all research-related activities at the University. Her office maintains good standards of compliance through monitoring regulatory changes and recommending institutional responses to ensure compliance, oversight of development and implementation of policies, procedures, programs and educational activities that satisfy federal, state and institutional mandates governing the conduct of research. |
| |
In 2002, she was honored by the USA National Alumni Association with an Outstanding Employee Service Award, recognizing her outstanding service and dedication to the University. |
| |
Layton received her bachelor’s degree in Operations Management from USA in 1994. Layton has worked in the USA College of Medicine for more than 11 years. |
