Dr. Fredrick Meyer, chair of the University of South Alabama department of orthopedic surgery, was recently honored by the Association of Residency Coordinators in Orthopedic Surgery (ARCOS).

The Frederick N. Meyer, M.D. Keynote Lectureship was established to pay tribute to Meyer’s support and encouragement of ARCOS and its development. In naming the keynote address in his honor, ARCOS directly credits Meyer for the progress and success of the organization.

“Dr. Meyer directed ARCOS toward a future filled with potential and promise; it is now our responsibility to forge ahead prepared with the educational tools and the wisdom to continue in his tradition of excellence,” Linda Miller, president of ARCOS explains.

In addition to his duties as chair of the USA department of orthopedic surgery, Meyer also serves as program director for USA’s orthopedic residency programs and as associate dean of faculty practice at USA.

ARCOS was founded in 2003 to create a nationally recognized association of orthopedic residency program coordinators, to provide an advocacy forum for orthopedic residency program coordinators and to enhance the knowledge and skills of orthopedic residency program coordinators through the continuous exchange of ideas and information.
