The University of South Alabama Physicians Group Lunch ‘N’ Learn June lecture series will feature Dr. Michael Linder, assistant professor of family medicine at the USA College of Medicine. His lecture, entitled “Student Athletes & Unique Challenges: Insight into Performance Enhancing Drugs,” will take place on June 19, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. at the USA Mitchell Center John Counts Room. The lecture will provide information to parents and coaches regarding the dangers of performance enhancing drugs. |

“There is an increasing pressure on athletes to excel at all levels of sports today. This demand is no longer just among professional sport stars and Olympic athletes, but is also among high school and junior high student athletes as well,” explained Linder. “Often, in our society, athletes are tempted to experiment with performance enhancing drugs which can be harmful in many ways.” |
