Conferences and Rounds
 
Weekly presentations take place in the USAMC Conference Center, on Fridays at 7:30 a.m.

Format

This is a formal grand rounds presentation with handouts, and a thorough review of a topic or new advance in surgery. The conferences will include visiting professors, and local faculty. In addition each Chief resident will have the opportunity to prepare and present at this conference. The conference is televised to the Mobile Infirmary and other network sites in the Telemedicine system. It is videotaped for later review as a reference source.

The announcement for these conferences is posted in the Mastin Building and at the medical center. An annual schedule is available at the coordinator's office. This conference is mandatory for all residents. It is an open conference and is attended by medical students, faculty, and paraprofessionals in a variety of disciplines from throughout the University community.

Residency: Boston City Hospital , Boston , and University of Florida , Gainesville.

Dr. O'Leary accepted the position of Chairman of the Department of Surgery in July, 1989. In addition to his departmental responsibilities, Dr. O'Leary serves as Councilor for the State of Louisiana for SMA, is past president of the Association of Program Directors in Surgery, and is a Governor of the American College of Surgeons, and President Elect of the Louisiana Chapter ACS.
