WOMEN
IN SCIENCE |
|
Who are we? The first Women In Science meeting at the University of South Alabama occurred in 1998. Dr. Mary Townsley organized an informal luncheon with 5 women faculty members. There are now 32 faculty members from a variety of disciplines participating in the Women in Science organization. What is our purpose?Through informal luncheons, female faculty members at the University of
South Alabama have developed connections with one another. These meetings have led to
research collaborations, sharing of teaching ideas, and development of community
service projects. As a
major service effort, we developed the Expanding Your Horizons
Conference at the We also maintain a list of resources for women in science. The Women in Science group also offers mentoring services to women at USA who are undergraduate students, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and faculty. For more information check-out the WiS Newsletters. |
