Spring 2021 Graduation Ceremony

You must RSVP if you plan to attend the event. Graduates will receive a seat assignment at their JagMail email address prior to the event. Graduates who RSVP by April 21, 2021, will be emailed by the Mitchell Center with guest ticketing information prior to the event. The event will also be live-streamed.

Spring 2021 Graduation Ceremony Live Stream

The Live Stream will go live an hour prior to the start of the ceremony. Graduates will be permitted to briefly remove their masks to be recognized on the stream.

▼   I've only received one ticket to the graduation. When will my guests receive theirs?

Guests will receive their tickets closer to the date of the ceremony they have been invited to attend. The Ticket Office Crew is working to distribute tickets to those who should have them.

▼   One of my guests received their ticket but the others have not.

The Ticket Office Crew is working to distribute tickets at this time. Tickets may be sent at different times as they are working on each submission. We appreciate your patience.

▼   I did not receive an email to complete guest registration.

An email was sent to each graduate on the rsvp list provided by each college. Search your JagMail by entering in the search bar. All correspondence will display. Be sure to check your spam as well, just in case. If you still do not see it, please follow-up with us at

▼   I am trying to register my guests but the form is no longer accepting submissions.

This means the deadline has passed and the Ticket Office Crew are now working on the seating location process for your college. We can still assist you, but it will be done so through a manual process. Please send an email at with the first and last name of each guest, as well as an email address where we can send the mobile ticket for each person (it can be one email if preferred). Be sure to include which college you are graduating from (MCOB, CON, Allied Health, etc).

▼   Does my child need a ticket for entry?

All guests who have reached the age of two must have a ticket for entry.

▼   I tried to submit my guests using the form, but I received a message stating I need permission.

The form is restricted to University of South Alabama users. You must be logged into your University-issued Google account to access the form. This also includes your browser. It is possible to be logged in to your University-issued JagMail but not logged in on the browser. Both must be logged in to your University-issued Google account.

▼   Who do I contact to RSVP?

Contact to RSVP. If you plan on having guests attend the ceremony, please RSVP prior to April 21, 2021.

▼   Can guests attend the ceremony?

Students who RSVP prior to April 21, 2021 will receive an email from the Mitchell Center prior to the event, allowing them to invite a maximum of four (4) guests and explaining the ticketing process. Guests will be seated in the upper seating area (300-level) of the Arena.

▼   Will the ceremony be live-streamed?

The link to the live-streamed ceremony will be posted on the University's Commencement webpage.

▼   Will masks be required?

Social distancing and masks that cover both the nose and mouth are required at all times inside the Mitchell Center. Seats will be placed at least six feet apart. Please maintain a six-foot distance from others when entering or leaving the arena. No balloons, signs, confetti, silly string, streamer pops, air horns, laser pointers, or noisemakers are allowed. Please keep your regalia open when you arrive at the Mitchell Center.

▼   How will I receive my diploma?

The actual diploma will be mailed by the university following the ceremony. Due to health safety considerations, we will not be able to hand over diploma covers during the event. However, you will pick up a diploma cover before you walk in front of the platform to be recognized. You will also have your picture taken in front of your fellow graduates. Important: your name will be called based on your seat assignment -- do not change seats or the wrong name will be called for you!

▼   How do I receive my Honor Cord?

If you are eligible for Honors, you will receive an honor cord at your seat at the ceremony.

▼   Is there a dress code for the ceremony?

Yes. The academic regalia (cap and gown) will be required for participation. Participants should wear traditional business attire or business casual under the academic regalia. Please arrive at the Mitchell Center in your graduation regalia. There will be no robing room. Students can order regalia here. Regalia must be ordered online. The bookstore will no longer be accepting physical orders. All regalia must be ordered by April 4th, 2021.

▼   Will there be a procession into the arena?

For safety reasons, there will not be a procession into the arena. Once you RSVP, you will receive an email with your seating assignment prior to the ceremony. The seating assignment will indicate your arrival time, entry door, and assigned seat on the Mitchell Center arena during the ceremony.

▼   How do I get photos taken at the ceremony?

GradImages is the official commencement photographer for the University of South Alabama. Graduates will be photographed during the commencement ceremony, and proofs will be sent to them directly around 48 hours after the ceremony. Please note that GradImages charges a fee to receive your pictures, should you wish to receive them. You may pre-register to receive your proofs through their website at, and customer service questions may be directed to (800) 261-2576.

▼   Are invitations required?

No formal invitations are issued for the ceremony. Students may contact the USA Bookstore if interested in ordering announcements.

▼   Where do I park at the Mitchell Center?

Parking is available in all areas surrounding the Mitchell Center for special events. There are 450 parking spaces on the immediate site of the facility. There are 2,000 spaces located within a 5-minute walk and an additional 2,000 parking spaces within a 10-minute walk.
