REQUIREMENTS FOR THE BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS DEGREE IN THEATRE ARTS

A minor in not required.
Students must complete a total of 120 semester hours to graduate
An audition and/or interview is required for admission to any BFA program.
BFA students are required to pass a progress review with the faculty at the end of each academic year.
General Requirements (35 hours)
- COMMUNICATIONS - 6 units
- EH 101 and EH 102
- HUMANITIES - 6 units
- Select from: EH 302, EH 322, EH 323, EH 460, EH 461, EH 463, EH 472
- NATURAL SCIENCES AND MATHEMATICS - 11 units
- MH 110 or higher
- 2 lab sciences, lecture and lab required: AN 210, BLY 101, BLY 102, CH 101, CH 103, CH 131 or 141, CH 132 or 142, GEO 101, GEO 102, GY 111, GY 112, PH 101, PH 104, PH 114 or 201, PH 115 or 201
- HISTORY, SOCIAL AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCES 12 units
- HY 101 and 102 OR Hy 135 and 136
- 2 approved courses in Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, International Studies,
Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology (AN 100, AN 102, ECO 215, ECO 216, GEO
114, GEO 115, IS 100, PSC 130, PSY 120, PSY 250, SY 109, SY 112)
Dramatic Arts Core Requirements: (43 hours)
- DRA 100 Theatre Workshop: Rehearsal and Performance (1 hour)
- DRA 101 Theatre Workshop: Technical Theatre(1 hour)
- DRA 103 Theatre Symposium (Required every semester) (4 hours total)
- DRA 104 Fundamentals of Dance I (3 hours)
- DRA 120 Acting I (3 hours)
- DRA 130 Stagecraft (3 hours)
- DRA 131 Lighting Fundamentals (3 hours)
- DRA 132 Costume Fundamentals (3 hours)
- DRA 150 Text Analysis (3 hours)
- DRA 210 Makeup (1 hour)
- DRA 340 Directing (3 hours)
- DRA 350 Theatre History I (W) (3 hours)
- DRA 352 Costume History and Period Styles (3 hours)

In addition to the Drama core requirements, a Concentration in Performance is available. This concentration requires a successful audition and interview, and cannot happen until after the student has been enrolled as a USA BA-Drama student for at least one full semester:
