Dr. Amy Upton worked with the Alabama State Department of Education and the Alabama School Counselor Association to develop a statewide recognition program aligned with the Recognized American School Counselor Association Model Program (RAMP). Five schools in Alabama received the designation this year.

At the South Alabama Research and Inservice Center, the coronavirus pandemic has brought new urgency to online support for teachers and distance learning for their students. "We were dipping our toes in online professional learning at the beginning," said Dr. Stephanie Hulon, director of SARIC, "but COVID-19 is forcing us to say, 'We just want to help. How can we help?'"
