David joined Visit Mobile as President & CEO on April 1, 2017. He has 30 years of hospitality, lodging and tourism leadership in Coastal Alabama. His role with Visit Mobile is to promote and sell the City of Mobile as a Tourism Destination by creating an image of leisure to attract tourist from the Leisure and Convention Markets.
Prior to joining the Visit Mobile Team, David worked for Spectrum Resorts for 4 years, the management company and of The Beach Club and Turquoise Place. Prior to working with Spectrum Resorts, David worked at The Grand Hotel Marriott, Resort Golf Club & Spa in Point Clear, Alabama for 23 years. He served in a variety of roles including Head Golf Professional, Director of Golf, Resident Manager and the last eight years as General Manager.
David’s teams led Marriott International’s Resort Division to the #1 Overall Guest Satisfaction ranking in North America for six consecutive years. His team’s earned National Industry Awards including: Marriott International’s Top Hotel Operations for North America Lodging Operations and Travel + Leisure “Top 500 Hotels in the World.” David was the recipient of Marriott International’s General Manager of The Year for North America and received Hotelier of The Year in 2016 and 2009 by the Alabama Restaurant and Hospitality Alliance. He was recognized in 2016 as Industry Partner of The Year by the University of South Alabama’s Hospitality & Tourism Department. David has served in Leadership Alabama and Leadership Mobile.
David currently serves as President of the University of South Alabama’s Hospitality and Tourism Advisory Board and serves on numerous other Boards. David is a Lifetime Member of the Professional Golfers Association of America.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Western Kentucky University, is married to Melinda and has a daughter, Savannah.
Dr. Evelyn Kwan Green
Dr. Evelyn Kwan Green holds a B.S. in Hotel and Restaurant Administration, an M.B.A. with a marketing emphasis, an M.S. in Instructional Technology, and a Ph.D. in Human Capital Development from The University of Southern Mississippi.
Dr. Green has 30 years of work experience in higher education including 10 years of casino, hospitality and tourism management instruction. She rebuilt The University of Southern Mississippi’s casino management program and developed its undergraduate online casino management certification. Dr. Green spent two years as an Assistant Professor-in-Residence with the William. F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration, University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), Singapore campus. She joined the University of South Alabama in August 2015 to help build its Hospitality and Tourism Management program. Dr. Green currently serves as the University’s Director of the Hospitality & Tourism Workforce Innovation Alliance.
Dr. Green applies her multidisciplinary academic background to develop interdisciplinary pedagogies to help prepare her students for sustainable employment, local and global leadership, and engaged citizenry. Her research interests focus on student learning success through business-education partnerships and employee volunteerism, and best practices for developing a workplace-ready workforce for the hospitality, tourism and casino industry.
