MAA Endowed Scholarship Fund: Built to Last

For over 30 years, the University of South Alabama Medical Alumni Association has served as a source of support for our College of Medicine, its graduates, and current students. In this time, the Association has worked diligently to create and maintain a beneficial relationship between our alumni physicians and their alma mater. This relationship has been strengthened thanks to the resources made available through two significant funding resources.

The MAA's Annual Fund and Membership Drive allows the Association to promote the professional advancement of our alumni members and generously support the activities, programs, and projects that enhance our students’ medical education. In addition, the MAA Endowed Scholarship Fund makes a sizable impact on the lives of currently enrolled College of Medicine students. This Endowed Fund supports our students’ academic endeavors with tuition assistance on an annual basis, recognizing high levels of scholastic excellence and these recipient’s dedication to the practice and study of medicine. In concert, these two funds enable the MAA to make immediate and lasting impacts on your College of Medicine.

How does the MAA Scholarship Endowment Differ from the MAA Annual Fund and Membership Drive?

The MAA’s Endowed Scholarship Fund provides the USA College of Medicine with a permanent asset from which students can receive tuition support. Managed by USA, the gift is invested and the earnings off the principle are awarded annually to deserving students based on notable academic achievement. This is dramatically different from the goal of the MAA’s Annual Fund and Membership Drive where the contributions to this annual initiative allow the Association to continue day-to-day operations, address immediate alumni and student needs, and support annual programs and events.
