I come from a small town two hours north of Mobile called Butler, AL, which is in Choctaw County. The process of deciding which college would be the best fit for me was based on getting that small town feel that I was used too. South Alabama was the perfect fit for me, because although it’s in the second largest metropolitan city in Alabama, the community atmosphere at South made me feel right at home. After setting foot on campus for USA Day, I knew South Alabama was the place for me. I received my bachelor’s degree from South Alabama and I also plan on earning my master’s degree from USA.
My South experience brought me great opportunities and experiences. The most rewarding was meeting the love of my life while I was here! I had a very full student life during my undergrad studies. I was enrolled full-time every semester, involved in various organizations, and even worked an on-campus job that required a ton of responsibilities. As a first generation college student, I’m here to tell you that if I can do it, you can too!
Bachelor of Art in Psychology
University of South Alabama
Thing to do on campus:
Getting lunch in the student center! The vibe in there during the lunch hour is so chill and there is always something going on out in the Student Center Mall!
Thing about USA:
I love everything about South Alabama! From all the wonderful memories and networking opportunities it has afforded me throughout my time as a student (and now a professional!) to all the wonderful resources and internship opportunities available to its students. That’s why I wanted to be an Admissions Officer. I wanted to give back to a University that gave me so much. I’m telling you, once you experience this hidden jewel in Mobile, you too will want to be a part of all it has to offer.
Place to eat in Mobile:
For a real foodie like me, there’s definitely more than one place to call my favorite. I have favorites for different occasions:
For brunch: Spot of Tea & Montego’s (the options are unique and oh, so good at both places)
For a quick lunch: MEATBOSS, Moe’s Southwest, Foosackly’s (great food at all locations and they get you in and out in no time)
For when I’m feeling Fancy: Half Shell Oyster House & Bonefish Grill (it’s the coast so of course I’m living for the fresh seafood)
For Italian: Roma Café
For Mexican: La Cocina
Others: Mudbugs (best crawfish hands down)
Cammie’s Old Dutch (Homemade Ice Cream! Need I say more?)
