SouthFit offers a one-semester, non-credit class to prepare you to be a group fitness instructor (G.F.I.T.) or personal trainer (P.F.I.T.). Both theoretical knowledge such as anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, and kinesiology as well as hands-on skills are emphasized. The class will also provide instruction on how to obtain a nationally-recognized fitness certification or training that is right for you.
Cost: $25 for USA students, $50 for non-students. Payment is due by the second class meeting. Fee includes an American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Please register and pay via the Campus Recreation Portal.
Date & Times: Tuesdays/Thursdays, August 31-October 28, 2:00-2:45pm in the Student Recreation Center classroom. Class is in-person and no virtual option is available.
Skills Covered: Warm-ups, cool-downs, class design, music, cueing, posture, alignment, safety, exercise modifications, and more.

Our staff is available for virtual private fitness classes for your USA group with
USA attendees only. Fee is $45/hour and must be paid in advance via the Campus Recreation Portal. Your group may choose from most of our class types. Contact email@example.com to schedule a class.
We are happy to give short tours (20-30 minutes) of the Student Recreation Center to First-Year Experience classes or any other group on campus. We will also discuss the programs that Campus Recreation offers. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to set up a time.
