SouthFit offers a one-semester, non-credit class to prepare you to be a group fitness instructor (G.F.I.T.) or personal trainer (P.F.I.T.). Both theoretical knowledge such as anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, and kinesiology as well as hands-on skills are emphasized. The class will also provide instruction on how to obtain a nationally-recognized fitness certification or training.
Students can get a discount on fitness certifications from the American Council on Exercise. We also host fitness certifications at a discounted cost from the National Exercise Trainers Association (NETA).
Cost: $25 for USA students, $50 for USA faculty/staff/Rec Center members, and $75 non-USA. Payment is due by the second class meeting. Fee includes an American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certification. Please register and pay via the Campus Recreation Portal.
Date & Times: Fall 2019 G.F.I.T. will meet Mondays and Wednesdays, August 28-November 13, 2:30-3:20 PM in the Student Recreation Center classroom. If you are already a certified group fitness instructor and would like to apply for a job, please email email@example.com.

Our staff is available for private fitness classes for your university department, student organization, or academic class. You can choose from any of our current types of SouthFit classes.
Private classes can be held at the Student Recreation Center or your campus location depending on equipment and space required. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to request a private class. The fee is $45 for up to one hour and we provide all equipment. Payment must be made in advance of the class via our Campus Recreation Portal.
We are happy to give short tours (20-30 minutes) of the Student Recreation Center to First-Year Experience classes or any other group on campus. We will also discuss the programs that Campus Recreation offers. Please email email@example.com to set up a time.
