Arts and Sciences Caucus Report
April 2009

The A&S Faculty Senate Caucus met with Interim Dean Wierzbicki on Friday, April 10th at 8:30am.  The discussion centered on new Faculty Senate members and the university/college budget.

New Senators were welcomed and encouraged to be the voice of their colleagues and to bring issues important to the college and university to the attention of the Faculty Senate and the Dean.  The budget situation remains a critical issue and because of the depletion of reserves to meet shortfalls this year, there is growing concern about 2009-2010.  The Dean indicated that the issue of travel for professional development by junior faculty brought up at the last Caucus meeting was being discussed by the administration.
