RESOLUTION
IN SUPPORT OF THE APPOINTMENT OF A VICE-PRESIDENT

FOR DEVELOPMENT AND ALUMNI AFFAIRS

WHEREAS, the University of South Alabama Faculty Senate is on
record as having called for the employment of a development officer whose
primary mission would be to procure additional resources for the
well-being of the university and whose secondary mission would be to
enhance the University of South Alabama's reputation in the region, and

WHEREAS, Dr. Joe Busta is the former chief alumni and development
officer at Auburn University and at University of South Florida, Tampa,
and for the past nine years the President of the Alabama Association for
the Deaf and Blind, and

WHEREAS, Dr. Joe Busta has a proven success record in the area of
fundraising as evidenced by his experience at Auburn and the University of
South Florida, Tampa,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the University of South Alabama Faculty
Senate hereby endorses the appointment of Dr. Joe Busta as the University's
first Vice-President for Development and Alumni Affairs.
