Discover! An Adventure in Learning is an Institute for Learning in Retirement, made up of a community of those of retirement age who share a love of learning. Discover! members design their own courses based on the interests and intellectual curiosity of the group. Classes are challenging and thought-provoking, with mind-stretching activities on a wide variety of topics. Additional activities may include luncheon lectures and field trips. Courses and activities have a minimal registration fee to cover costs.
Exploring Gulf Shores’ Ancient Native American Canoe Trail
Gulf Shores resident and avocational archeologist, Harry King, launched the effort to identify one of the earliest known trade canals in the United States, dug by Native Americans 1,400 years ago. He will explore Native American culture and history in Gulf Shores, show artifacts, and take participants on a visit to the canal sites.
