Discover! An Institute for Learning in Retirement
Discover! An Adventure in Learning is an Institute for Learning in Retirement, made up of a community of those of retirement age who share a love of learning. Discover! members design their own courses based on the interests and intellectual curiosity of the group. Classes are challenging and thought-provoking, with mind-stretching activities on a wide variety of topics. Additional activities may include luncheon lectures and field trips. Courses and activities have a minimal registration fee to cover costs.
Interested in genealogy?
Join Discover! for a three-week course on “Who, What, When, Where……Your Family Tree.” The course will be taught by Jeanette Bornholt, Genealogy Librarian with the Foley Public Library.
Dates: January 16, 23, 30 Time: 1:30 – 3:00pm.
Cost: $35 for the three-session course.

Becoming Alabama: The British Initiative
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! In the Becoming Alabama course offered in October, John Jackson, historian and director of the Foley Public Library, discussed the influence of the Spanish and French on the development of our state. In this course, he will explore the last and most influential colonization effort – the British Initiative.
This course is offered through Discover! An Institute for Learning in Retirement at the University of South Alabama, Gulf Coast Campus.
