Institutional Effectiveness at USA

The University of South Alabama (USA) has a robust and active institutional effectiveness cycle, which includes meaningful assessment activity. It is a process by which, planning, budgeting, and assessment are intricately connected. It is a systematic and documented process in which we:

  • Make explicit our goals and objectives;
  • Determine our performance targets;
  • Develop intended outcomes about activities that are designed to support meeting our performance targets;
  • Determine a method for assessing the activity;
  • Stipulate criteria for success of the activity;
  • Assess whether the intended outcome is contributing to success and/or continuous improvement; and
  • Use the assessment data to make changes and/or improvements designed to propel us toward success in meeting our performance targets.
